A couple days ago, a friend of mine named Brandon called me with the idea to make a charity CD to help give less fortunate kids presents this Christmas. I think it's a great idea, especially because the profits go to such a good cause. The plan is to have a bunch of bands from our school play classic rock covers then sell the CD to students for four or five dollars each. Brandon called me not only to ask me to be on the CD, but also to help out with the recording process. I told him that I don't know what I could play (I'm not really a classic rock or cover musician) but I would definitely help out with recording. I've had a little experience recording my own songs here at home, so Brandon wanted my (admittedly limited) expertise. This Sunday we're planning to get the recording gear together and do a dry run with just us playing. Hopefully this CD will come together. I'll be sure to post how it progresses.

Updates: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. This CD sure went through some changes. First, we decided to let bands record their own original music. This gave a more personal feel to the CD as well as allowed our school's rock bands to show off their talent. We also decided later on to use the profits to benefit the local make a wish charity, which is similar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Click the links for the full story.
