Last Saturday's outing was probably one of the strangest I think I've been on. It all began earilier in the day when I went to visit Jeremy at his workplace. After we chatted a while, he asked if I wanted to join him and two friends later that night to watch a blues concert. Of course I agreed even though he expected we would have to do some fast talking to get in to the 21 and over venue. Neither of us expected too much, but we wanted to try anyway. We met up around 8:30 that night and headed over to the bar, where, unfortunately, our fast talking didn't fly too well with the bouncer. Jeremy's friend Ben, who actually looks 21, couldn't get in either. We never did meet up with Todd, Jeremy's other friend who is, in fact, 21 years old.

By then it was only about 8:45, so we decided to head downtown to try another blues venue. That club's pale Australian bouncer shot us down spectacularly ("Oy-dee? No oy-dee? Ahn yah way thayn."), so we just walked around the "strip" before heading back to Ben's house.

Ben lives by himself in a very run down single-bedroom house in an equally run down area of town right outside a small private college that he doesn't attend. Nonetheless, we decided to walk around campus looking for something to do and came upon a fraternity tent party. They had a pretty decent cover band playing, so the three of us finally got to hear some music. The ultimate irony of the evening: I came home for the weekend to get away from college only to end up at a college party in a different University. The ultimate-ultimate irony: I think Saturday's fraternity was a different chapter of the fraternity whose party I went to a few weeks ago.
