Today I, along with a group of friends from the floor, spent a good portion of the afternoon at the annual go-kart race. Interestingly enough, my roommate Tony was the driver for the dorm's team this year, and I definitely hoped he would do well. The beginning of the race didn't look promising however, as Tony got spun one or two times and lost a few places. Luckily for him the race was red-flagged when a car crashed and flipped over the hay bales not twenty feet from where my group was sitting. The driver was fine thanks to the roll cage, and the race began again after maybe 15 minutes. This restart gave Tony a chance to try and work his way back up the field, but alas, it was not to be. At around lap 110 (of 160) he pulled off into the pits with what we later heard was a broken clutch. After that, the rest of the race finished uneventfully with second place qualifier taking the win.
I certainly had a great time hanging out with friends and enjoying the absolutely beautiful weather. Here's to enjoyable, relaxing weekends with entertaining events.
Update: is the Exponent's story on the race.
