I don't know that I've been this happy in a long time. Not only was it an absolutely beautiful day, but after months and months of incessant schoolwork and two weeks of real work I finally had a chance to again. I plugged my amp into my sound card, started playing, and just recorded what came out the other end. It was great. The day got even better around 5:45 when I went over to Eric's for a bit of a cookout. Soon after, he, his girlfriend Mel, his sister, two of his sister's friends, and I met with his next-door neighbor for an awesome boat ride around the nearby reservoir. I've lived about a half mile from the water for seven years now, but I had never been on it before. Today's ride made me wish I had. The scenery, the gigantic homes, the feeling of pure relaxation— everything about it made me hope to live on the water some day. I could have stayed out there for hours, but we soon lost daylight (not to mention the day's warm temperatures), so we headed back to Eric's. We spent the rest of the evening just hanging out and swimming around in his swim spa.
That, dear reader, was the perfect example of a blissful summer day: a chance to do what brings you joy followed by communion with friends and an interesting new experience. Aaaahhh...
