I've bought maybe a half dozen items off over the past two years or so, and I had never lost an auction until last week when I tried to win a lot of six books. As always, I waited until the last 10 seconds of the auction before placing my bid, but despite that, someone had set their maximum bid higher than mine. Curses! After losing that auction, I kept my eye out for more and came across an auction for eight Bloom County books and one Outland book. Losing the first auction turned out to be a good thing because yesterday I won the nine books for less than I would have won the six.
